COST EFFECTIVE PAVEMENTS TODAY FOR A GREENER TOMORROW

Location: LNEC, Lisbon, Portugal DATE: 24, 25 May, 2017 Draft Agenda: As the World has signed CAP21 it is now incumbent upon each industry to do the best they can to reduce carbon foot print in their respective sectors. Construction and maintenance strategies for high, medium and low volume roads can be adjusted and improved towards meeting that goal. New and old paving strategies and materials must now be examined under this new light. The use of recycled crumb rubber in mixes and pavement in a cost effective manner will be examined and re-examined together with the efforts from the agencies and practitioners towards demonstrating that this product can indeed become a main stream paving component. The event will have agency representatives, practitioners and researchers sharing their experiences and view on how to build today cost effective pavements in such a manner that we can have a greener tomorrow and provide an opportunity for all to understand the future trends of this ever evolving technology. Topics: Green Construction and Sustainability, Adaptation of road pavements to climate change; innovation in construction and maintenance; environment considerations in road projects evaluation to ensure quality of life; standards for climate change adaptation.
